BACKGROUND

The Lazio vine is of very ancient origins, already widespread in Roman times and mentioned by Pliny as “pantastic grape”. This is present, for geographical accuracy, in the area that goes from the Castelli Romani to the Lepini Mountains, up to the foothills towards the sea.

 

TERROIR

It was born behind Anzio from an old ungrafted vineyard (vines without rootstock) where, thanks to the nature of the soil, the phylloxera was unable to spread. The age of the vines of over 60 years, the direct influence of the sea, the marine soils, make this small area unique for the production of Bellone.
We can speak of a specific Terroir, that is a perfect symbiosis between VARIETY – SOIL – CLIMATE – TRADITION, real cornerstones for the production of a great wine.

 

VARIETY

The Bellone vine has good vigor and resists well to dry periods, guaranteeing quality and balance. The cluster has a conical-cylindrical shape and spheroidal berries with a very thick golden yellow skin. The constant sea breeze helps to reach full ripeness, where excellent sugar concentration and high acidity help to enhance the strong minerality. Harvesting takes place at the end of September.

 

VINIFICATION

The vinification takes place in two phases: maceration on the skins to facilitate the extraction of the aromas, which thus restore the pedoclimatic characteristics of the aged area. After soft pressing, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts follows, which lasts for about 10/12 days. at a temperature of 18/20 ° C.
