Buttafuoco Storico: a structured red with time to mature

Bosco del Sasso’s Buttafuoco Storico brings together Croatina, Barbera, Uva Rara and Ughetta di Canneto. The producer’s technical sheet explains that the wine is released at least 36 months after harvest, including a minimum of 12 months in wooden barrels and a further 6 months in bottle.

Tasting notes

Deep ruby red with purple highlights. Intense aromas combine red-fruit jam, a light liquorice note and spicy nuances. The palate is full-bodied, powerful and expressive, with a robust character rounded by maturation in wood.

Food pairings and serving

Serve at 14–16 °C with pasta in meat sauces, braised or boiled meats, red meats, game and cheeses. The technical sheet states an alcohol content of 15.5% vol.
