The “Pan de oro,” Pandoro, is so named for its naturally golden-yellow color. It has an incredibly soft and fragrant dough, made with fresh cold-centrifuged butter and Bourbon vanilla beans.
Artisanal Pandoro is a very simple dessert with few ingredients (unlike the other beloved Christmas dessert). The most indulgent enjoy it at the table with creams or chocolate.
For it to truly taste great, the flour, eggs, milk, and fresh butter must be of the highest quality and handled with care throughout the long preparation process. This begins with the Mother Dough, which requires constant dedication: daily refreshments, vigorous kneading, and resting in a healthy, protected environment.
Pandoro originated in the Venetian area, specifically in Verona. It is an evolution of the nadalin, an artisanal dessert from the Veneto region, traversed by the Adige River. Its shape reflects the lines of the Star of Bethlehem, and eating it is a wonderful way to extend good wishes for the end of the year following Christmas and the beginning of a new season.
