Finsbury Distillery was founded in London by Joseph Bishop in 1740. The 47% Finsbury Dry Gin seems to be one of the oldest gins produced today. The recipe for Finsbury Dry 47% has been kept secret since the day of its creation in 1740. Gin appears to be distilled six times with a complex “single-batch” distillation through a single copper still, which has been in business for one hundred years. The alcohol base of gin is obtained from the distillation of corn kernels, while the botanicals of the recipe are a secret, jealously guarded by Finsbury. The high alcohol content makes the gin particularly intense, enhancing the notes of Juniper, herbs and fruit.
